PFRDA Grade A Legal Highlights
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) regularly invites online applications from eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Manager in Grade A for the Legal stream. While the recruitment has opened for PFRDA Grade A recruitment for 30 vacancies, there are no vacancies, currently for the legal stream.
The online application window will open from September 03, 2026 to September 24, 2026. The prelims will take place on October 15, 2026 and the Mains is expected on November 20, 2026.
The Legal stream had 2 openings—1 unreserved and 1 reserved for OBC—with a horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

Phase II Online Examination
Exam scheduleis provided in the notification and it is expected to be held on November 20, 2026. This stage includes a descriptive English paper and an objective paper on Legal topics.

PFRDA Grade A Legal Eligibility Criteria
Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the Legal stream in PFRDA Grade A. You should also be computer-literate and proficient in MS-Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
Educational Criteria(As of July 31, 2026)
You must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognised university or institute on or before July 31, 2025. Your qualifying degree must be from a university or institute established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, or recognised as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities/UGC.
Age Criteria (As of July 31, 2026)
Your age must not exceed 30 years (i.e., you should be born on or after August 1, 1996.
Age Relaxation
PFRDA grants a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.Other Backward Class candidates are entitled to a three-year age relaxation.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) receive ten years of relaxation. If a PwBD candidate also belongs to the OBC category, they may claim thirteen years; PwBD candidates in SC/ST can claim fifteen years. Ex-servicemen are eligible for a five-year age relaxation.
Where a candidate qualifies under more than one of these categories, they can combine the applicable relaxations as per government norms.

PFRDA Grade A Legal Exam Pattern
The selection process of the PFRDA Assistant Manager exam is a three-stage one, which is as follows:
- Phase 1- Online Exam
- Phase 2- Online Exam
- Phase 3- Interview

Prelims Exam Pattern
PFRDA Grade A Prelims exam pattern for the Legal stream consists of an online examination that will consist of multiple-choice-based questions. There will be two papers: Paper 1 & Paper 2 in Phase 1 (Prelims). Paper 1 will consist of questions from various subjects, whereas Paper 2 will be stream-specific.
Please Note:
- Phase 1 will be qualifying in nature.
- Candidates will have to secure sectional cut-off marks as well as overall cut-off marks.
- There will be a negative marking of 1/4th marks assigned to each question in both Paper 1 & Paper 2.
- Composite timing for each paper will be provided.
- All the tests except the Test of English Language will be available in both English & Hindi.
Mains Exam Pattern
Phase 2 of the PFRDA Grade A (Assistant Manager) exam will also consist of two papers- Paper 1 & Paper 2, both of which will be online exams. Paper 1 will be an English Descriptive Test, and Paper 2 will be an objective type that will be stream-specific. Refer to the table below for more details.
Please Note:
- There will be a negative marking of 1/4th mark in Paper 2.
- Candidates will have to secure sectional cut-off marks as well as overall cut-off marks.
- Paper 2 will be examined for only those candidates who secure the qualifying marks in Paper 1.
- Paper 2 will be available bilingually.
Interview
Based on your performance in the Phase 2 exam, you will be called for the PFRDA Grade A Interview. You can opt to reply in Hindi or English as per your convenience in the Interview. PFRDA Assistant Manager Phase 2 has a weightage of 85% marks, and the interview has a weightage of 15% marks. The final merit will be made as per the marks obtained in Phase 2 and Interview.
