Job Profile of an FSSAI Officer

As an FSSAI Officer, you play an important role in safeguarding public health by ensuring the safety and quality of the food supply chain. As an FSSAI Officer, your job profile involves:

1. Food Safety Inspections: Conduct inspections at food manufacturing facilities, restaurants, and other food establishments to ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations.

2. Enforcement of Regulations: Enforcing food safety laws and regulations to prevent the sale of unsafe or adulterated food products, taking appropriate action against violators as necessary.

3. Licensing and Registration: Processing and reviewing applications for food licenses and registrations, ensuring that businesses meet the required standards before approval.

4. Public Awareness: Educating food handlers and consumers about safe food handling practices, hygiene standards, and the importance of food safety through workshops, seminars, and public awareness campaigns.

Probation Period

Selected candidates for the position of FSSAI Officer will undergo a probationary period lasting two years. During this time, they will receive training and guidance to familiarize themselves with the responsibilities and expectations of the role. The probation period serves as a period of assessment, allowing both the candidate and the Authority to evaluate performance, adaptability, and suitability for the position.

At the discretion of the Authority, the probationary period may be extended if deemed necessary. This extension provides additional time for further evaluation and support as needed. Throughout the probationary period, candidates are encouraged to demonstrate their capabilities, willingness to learn, and commitment to upholding food safety standards and regulations. Successful completion of the probationary period signifies readiness to assume full responsibilities as an FSSAI Officer.
