    Question

    In the question below there are three statements followed by three conclusions I, II and III. You have to take the three given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the three statements disregarding commonly known facts.

    Statements: Only cumin are coriander. Some

    cumin are spices. Some spices are turmeric. Conclusions: I. Some turmeric are coriander. II. Some cumin are coriander. III. No spices is coriander.

    Solution

    Only cumin are coriander → All mon are cumin and coriander cannot have positive relation with anyone. Hence conclusion I does not follow. Only cumin are coriander → Some cumin are coriander (I). Hence conclusion II follows. Only cumin are coriander + Some cumin are spices → No spices is coriander as coriander can have negative relation with anyone. Hence conclusion III follows.
