    In the question below some statements are given followed by three conclusions I, II, and III. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts.     Statements: Only a few Book are Notebook.

    No Notebook is a Pencil. Only a few Pencil is Pen. Conclusions: I. All Pens can never be Notebooks. II. All Books can never be Pencils. III. Some Pens can be Books.

    Solution

    No Notebook is a Pencil (E) + Only a few Pencil is Pen (I) → Some Pen are not Notebook (O*) → Probable conclusion → All Pen can never be Notebook. Hence conclusion I follows. Only a few Book are Notebook (I) + No Notebook is a Pencil (E) → Some Book are not Pencil (O) → Probable conclusion → All Book can never be Pencil. Hence conclusion II follows. Only a few Book are Notebook (I) + No Notebook is a Pencil (E) → Some Book are not Pencil (O) + Only a few Pencil is Pen (I) → Probable conclusion → Some Pen can be Book (I). Hence conclusion III follows.
