    Three Statements are given followed by four conclusions

    numbered 1, 2, 3,and 4. Assuming the statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts, decide which of the conclusions logically does NOT follow(s) from the statements. Statements: All K are T. Some T are X. All X are Y. Conclusions:

    Solution

    All K are T (A) + Some T are X (I) → Probable conclusion → Some K are X (I) + All X are Y (A) → Some K are Y (I) → Probable conclusion → All K may be Y (A). Hence conclusion I follows but conclusion II does not follow. Some T are X (I) + All X are Y (A) → Some T are Y (I) → Conversion → Some Y are T (I). Hence conclusion III follows. All K are T (A) → Conversion → Some T are K (I). Hence conclusion IV follows.
