    Answer the questions based on the information given below. Ten persons (E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M and N) live on 10 different flats of a 5 storey building, where the bottommost floor is 1 and the floor above is 2 and so on. There are 2 types of flats on each floor, flat A and flat B such that flat A is in the west of flat B. Flat A of floor 1 is immediately below of flat A of floor 2, which is immediately below of flat A of floor 3 and so on, similarly for flat B. The dimensions of each of the flats are same. H lives three floors above L in the same type of flat. F lives south east of N. M lives somewhere to the south west of H. G lives to the north east of E. I lives immediately below M in the same type of flat but not to the south west of L. K lives two floors above N in the same type of flat.

    Solution

    1. H lives three floors above L. H and L lives in same flat. 2. M lives somewhere to the south west of H. 3. I live immediately below M but not to the south west of L.I and M lives in same flat. So, H lives in flat B. H lives on either floor 4 or floor 5. Case I: H lives on floor 4: 4. K lives two floors above N. 5. F lives south east of N, this is not possible in case I(a) and case II, so case I(a), case II(a) and case II(b) are rejected. So, K lives on floor 5 of flat A. N lives on floor 3 of flat A. F lives on floor 2 of flat B.
