Question
At what time, in minutes, between 5 o’clock and 6 o’clock, both the needles will coincide each other?
Solution
At 5 o’clock, the minute hand is 25 minutes spaces apart from the hour hand. To be coincident, it must gain 25 minutes spaces. 55 minutes gained in 60 minutes. 25 minutes are gained in (60/55×25) min = 300/11 minutes or 27*3/11 minutes ∴ Required time = 27*3/11 minutes past 5.
