Question
A train can cross a pole in 10 seconds while it can
cross a 360 metres long platform in 30 seconds. Find the time (in hours) taken by the train to cover a distance of 648 km if the train increased its speed by 50%.Solution
Let speed of train is āxā m/s while length of the train is ālā metres.
So, l = 10x
And, l + 360 = 30x
ā 10x + 360 = 30x
ā 20x = 360
ā x = 18
Speed of train = 18 Ć 18/5 = 64.8 km/h
Increased speed = 1.5 Ć 64.8 = 97.2 km/h
Desired time = 648 / 97.2 = 6.66 hours
