Question
A train crosses a pole and a platform of length 575 metres in 11 seconds and 34 seconds, respectively. Find the length of train.
Solution
Let the speed of train be 'v' m/s.
Length of train = '11v' metres
So, (11v + 575) Γ· 34 = 'v'
Or, 11v + 575 = 34v
Or, 23v = 575
So, 'v' = 25
Therefore, length of the train = 11 Γ 25 = 275 metres
