    Question

    Train ‘A’ running with a speed of 126 km/h crosses a

pole in 6 seconds. If the time taken by train ‘A’ to cross train ‘B’ running with a speed of 54 km/h and coming from the opposite direction is 11 seconds, then find the length of train B.
A 500 metres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 520 metres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 530 metres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 550 metres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Speed of train A = 126 × 5/18 = 35 m/s Length of train A = 35 × 6 = 210 metres Let length of train B = ‘l’ metres Speed of train B = 54 × 5/18 = 15 m/s Relative speed if train A with respect to train B = 15 + 35 = 50 m/s So, I + 210 = 50 × 11 = 550 So, l = 550 metres
