Question
A train can cross a pole in 21 seconds. While if the
train increased its speed by 35% then time taken by it to cross 357 metres long platform is 42 seconds. Find the time taken by the train to cross a 130 metre long tunnel.Solution
Let speed of train is ‘x’ m/s So, length of train = 21 × x = 21x metres And, 21x + 357 = 1.35 × x × 42 Or, 35.7x = 357 Or, x = 10 m/s So, length of train = 21 × 10 = 210 metres Desired time = (210 + 130)/10 = 34 seconds
