Question
‘C’ and ‘D’ can complete a job in 20 days and 25
days respectively. They completed it together for Rs. 9,000. What will be C’s share?Solution
ATQ,
Let the total work be 100 units (LCM of 20 and 25)
Efficiency of ‘C’ = 100 / 20 = 5 units/day
Efficiency of ‘D’ = 100 / 25 = 4 units/day
So, ‘C’ would get = 9000 × (5 / (5+4)) = 9000 × (5/9) = Rs. 5,000
Alternate solution:
Ratio of efficiency = 25:20 = 5:4
C’s share = 9000 × (5/9) = Rs. 5,000
