Question
‘P’ alone can complete a work in 25 days while
‘P’ and ‘Q’ together can complete the whole work in 15 days. Find the time taken by ‘Q’ alone to complete the whole work.Solution
Let total work = 150 units (LCM of 25 and 15)
Amount of work completed by ‘P’ alone in one day = 150/25 = 6 units
Amount of work completed by ‘P’ and ‘Q’ together in one day = 150/15 = 10 units
Amount of work completed by ‘Q’ alone in one day = 10 − 6 = 4 units
Desired time taken by ‘Q’ alone to complete the work = 150/4 = 37.5 days
