Question
An organization engaged 16 workers to complete a task in 24
days. After 9 days, 6 workers had to leave unexpectedly. How many additional days will it now take to complete the work?Solution
ATQ,
Let the efficiency of each worker be 'e' units/day
Total work = 16 × 24 × e = 384e units
Work done in 9 days = 16 × 9 × e = 144e units
Remaining work = 384e - 144e = 240e units
Remaining workers = 16 - 6 = 10
Time needed = 240e ÷ (10 × e) = 24 days
Extra days = 24 - 15 = 9 days
