Question
A group of workers, all equally efficient, were assigned to
complete a job in 16 days. However, 10 workers left the job at the end of each day. Despite this, the job was completed by the end of the 24th day. How many workers were there initially?Solution
Let total number of workers originally be βnβ and efficiency of each worker is 1 unit/day
So, total work = 16n units
So, 16n = n + (n β 10) + (n β 20) + β¦β¦. till 24 days
16n = 24/2 Γ [2n + (24 β 1) Γ (-10)]
16n = 12 Γ (2n β 230)
16n β 24n = -(12 Γ 230)
So, n = 345
