Question
The speeds of Y and Z are in the ratio 4 : 3. If Y raises his speed by 10% and manages to cover 198 km in 3 hours, determine the time taken by Z to travel 225 km.
Solution
ATQ, Increased speed of Y = (198/3) = 66 km/hr
So, actual speed of Y = 66 Γ· 1.10 = 60 km/hr
Or, speed of Z = 60 Γ (3/4) = 45 km/hr
Therefore, required time = (225/45) = 5 hours
