Question
A cyclist moves at a speed of 20 km/h and plans to
complete his journey in 3 hours. After finishing half the journey, he takes a break of 30 minutes. At what speed must he travel the remaining distance to arrive on time?Solution
Total distance = 20 × 3 = 60 km
Time to cover half distance = (30 ÷ 20) × 60 = 90 minutes
Time remaining = 180 – 90 – 30 = 60 minutes
Required speed = (30 ÷ 60) × 60 = 30 km/h
