Question
A woman drove for 5 hours at a constant speed of 60 km/h
and then drove another 2 hours at a constant speed of 90 km/h. Find her average speed for the whole journey.Solution
ATQ,
Total distance travelled by the woman = 60 × 5 + 90 × 2 = 300 + 180 = 480 km
Total time taken = 5 + 2 = 7 hours
So, average speed = total distance travelled ÷ total time taken = 480 ÷ 7 = 68.57 km/h
