Question

A man is travelling at a speed of 50 km/h such that he

will take 60 minutes to reach his destination. But after completing half the journey, the man took a break of 10 minutes and then continued his journey. Find the speed at which the man must cover rest of the journey to reach his destination in original time.
    A 86 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 75 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 96 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 106 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E 108 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Total distance to be covered = 50 × (60/60) = 50 km Time taken to cover half the distance at original speed = {(50 ÷ 2) ÷ 50} × 60 = 30 minutes Time remaining = 60 – 30 – 10 = 20 minutes Required speed = 25 ÷ 20 × 60 = 75 km/h
