The speed of a car is 15% more than that of a bike. Both
of them start from a same point. After travelling for 8 hours, the speed of the bike is increased by 30%. After 10 hours from starting, the car was 27 km ahead of the bike. Find the initial speed of the bike.Solution
Let the initial speed of the bike be ‘x’ km/hr Therefore, speed of the car = 1.15x km/hr According to the question, 10 × 1.15x – (8x + 2 × 1.3x) = 27 => 11.5x – 10.6x = 27 => x = 27/0.9 = 30 km/hr
