let SP of B = x, SP of A = y MP(A) = (x − 80) MP(B) = 1.6y (x − 80) / 1.6y = 1/2 ⇒ 2x − 160 = 1.6y ⇒ x − 0.8y = 80 ...(I) Also, x − y = 40 ...(II) Subtracting: (II) − (I) ⇒ −0.2y = −40 ⇒ y = 200 Then x = 240 Discount on B = 1.6y − x = 320 − 240 = Rs. 80
