Question
Nisha deposits Rs. 'z' and Rs. (z + 1000) in two accounts
for 1 year each. The first earns 11% and the second 9% simple interest. If the total interest from both is Rs. 1,960, determine the value of 'z'.Solution
ATQ,
Simple interest = Principal × Rate × Time ÷ 100
ATQ,
z × 11 × 1 ÷ 100 + (z + 1000) × 9 × 1 ÷ 100 = 1960
→ 0.11z + 0.09z + 90 = 1960
→ 0.20z = 1960 - 90 = 1870
→ z = 1870 ÷ 0.20 = 9350
