Question

Solution A has milk and water in 1:1 ratio. Solution B

contains them in 5:3 ratio. 40 litres of A and 32 litres of B are mixed. Find the milk to water ratio in the resulting solution.
A 5:4 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 5:7 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 5:9 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 2:1 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Milk in A = (1/2) × 40 = 20 litres

    Water in A = (1/2) × 40 = 20 litres

    Milk in B = (5/8) × 32 = 20 litres

    Water in B = (3/8) × 32 = 12 litres

    Required ratio = (20 + 20) : (20 + 12) = 40 : 32 = 5 : 4
