      The ratio of (p + q):(p – q) is 23:9, where ‘p’ and

      ‘q’ are positive integers. Find the ratio of ‘p’ and ‘q’, respectively.
      A 12:5 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B 16:7 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C 18:3 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      D 17:2 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

      (p + q):(p – q) = 23:9

      Let (p + q) be ‘23k’ ………… (I) (where ‘k’ is any integer)

      So, (p – q) = 23k × (9/23)

      So, p – q = 9k ………… (II)

      On adding equation (I) and (II), we have;

      2p = 32k

      Or, ‘p’ = ‘16k’

      On putting the value of ‘p’ = 16k in equation (I), we have;

      16k + q = 23k

      So, ‘q’ = 7k

      So, required ratio = (16k:7k) = 16:7
