The ratio of the pocket money of two persons βXβ and
βYβ is 7:4, respectively. βXβ spends 60% of his pocket money while βYβ spends 50% of his pocket money. If the savings of βXβ is Rs. 140 more than that of βYβ, then find the total pocket money of βXβ.Solution
Let the pocket money of βXβ and βYβ be Rs. 7x and Rs. 4x respectively
According to the question,
(0.4 Γ 7x) β (0.5 Γ 4x) = 140
2.8x β 2x = 140 β 0.8x = 140 β x = 175
Therefore, pocket money of βXβ = 7x = Rs. 1225
