institute is in the ratio of 3:5 respectively. If 75 more faculties join Physics, while 40 more faculties join Biology, the respective ratio becomes 3:4. Originally what was the total number of faculties in both together?Solution
Let the original number of faculties in Physics and Biology be 3x and 5x respectively According to the question, => (3x + 75)/(5x + 40) = 3/4 => 15x + 120 = 12x + 300 => x = 60 Original number of faculties = 3x + 5x = 8x = 8 × 60 = 480
