    Solution

    Let the original number of faculties in Physics and Biology be 5x and 8x respectively According to the question,   => (5x + 75)/(8x + 40) = 3/4 => 24x + 120 = 20x + 300 => 4x = 180 => x = 45 Original number of faculties = 5x + 8x = 13x = 13 × 45 = 585
