Question
In the question, two Quantities I and II are given. You
have to solve both the Quantity to establish the correct relation between Quantity-I and Quantity-II and choose the correct option. Abhishek is twice as efficient as Rahul whose efficiency is half of the efficiency of Vikas. If all of them work together, then the work gets complete in 24 days. Quantity-I: What is the time taken by Abhishek and Vikas to complete the work if both of them work on alternate days starting with Abhishek? Quantity-II: What is the time taken by Rahul and Vikas to complete the work together?Solution
Let the efficiency of Vikas be '2e' units/day. Efficiency of Rahul = (1/2) X 2e = 'e' unit/day Efficiency of Abhishek = 2 X 1e = '2e' units/day Total work = (2e + 1e + 2e) X 24 = '120e' units Quantity I: Work done by Abhishek and Vikas in first 2 days = 2e + 2e = 4e units Time taken by them to complete the work = (120e/4e) X 2 = 60 days So, Quantity I = 60 days Quantity II: Time taken by Rahul and Vikas to complete the work = 120e Γ· (e + 2e) = 40 days So, Quantity II = 40 days Therefore, Quantity-I > Quantity-II Hence, option a.
