Question
A trader buys 75 shirts and recovers the cost price
after selling 50 of them. He sells the remaining 25 shirts at a profit of 40% and earns Rs. 600 as profit on them. What is the total selling price of the 75 shirts?Solution
Let the cost price per shirt be Rs. x.
Total CP = 75x.
SP of 50 shirts = 75x.
Profit on remaining 25 shirts = 40%.
So, 25x × 0.4 = 600
10x = 600 ⇒ x = Rs. 60
Total SP = 75x + 1.4 × 25x
= 75 × 60 + 1.4 × 25 × 60
= 4,500 + 2,100 = Rs. 6,600
