Question

    A seller marked an article 25% above its cost price and

    sold it after allowing 10% discount. If he made a profit of Rs. 25, then find the difference between selling price and marked price of the article.
    A Rs. 20 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B Rs. 30 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C Rs. 25 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D Rs. 15 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the cost price of the article be Rs. ‘2x’
    So, marked price of the article = 2x × 1.25 = Rs. ‘2.5x’
    Selling price of the article = 2.5x × 0.9 = Rs. ‘2.25x’
    Profit = 2.25x – 2x = Rs. ‘0.25x’
    ATQ;
    0.25x = 25
    Or, x = 100
    So, marked price of the article = 100 × 2.5 = Rs. 250
    Selling price of the article = 100 × 2.25 = Rs. 225
    Required difference = 250 – 225 = Rs. 25
