Question
Shopkeeper bought 16 fans each at Rs.4200 and he sold 10
fans at a profit of 5 %. On other fans, he faced loss of 15 %. What percentage of loss or profit is faced by the shopkeeper in the whole transaction?Solution
Cost price of each fan = Rs.4200
Cost price of sixteen fans = 16*4200 = Rs.67200
Selling price of ten fans = 4200 [1+(5/100)] *10
= 42000 (21/20) = Rs.44100
Selling price of remaining six fans = 4200 *6*[1-(15/100)]
= 25200*(17/20) = Rs.21420
Selling price of sixteen fans = 44100 +21420 = Rs.65520
There is loss,
Loss percentage = [(cost price of sixteen fans - Selling price of sixteen fans) / cost price of sixteen fans] * 100
= [(67200-65520)/67200] *100
= 1680/672 = 2.5 %
