Question
Priya bought two articles for Rs. 1080. She sold one at a loss of 25% and another at a profit of 25%. If the selling price of both the articles is equal, then find the difference between their cost prices.
Solution
ATQ, Let the cost price of the two articles be Rs. x and Rs. y respectively. Selling price of the first article = 0.75 Γ x = Rs. 0.75x Selling price of the other article = 1.25 Γ y = Rs. 1.25y According to the question, 0.75x = 1.25y x/y = 1.25/0.75 = 5/3 Desired difference = (5 β 3)/8 Γ 1080 = 0.25 Γ 1080 = Rs.270
