Question
A shopkeeper sells an article for Rs 80 and earns
thrice the profit that he would have earned on selling this article for Rs 69. Find the C.P of this article (in Rs).Solution
ATQ, the shopkeeper earns the thrice profit that he would have earned had he sold it for Rs 69.
Profit% = 3 (profit %)
S.P - C.P = 3 x (S.P - C.P)
Let C.P = x
80 - x = 3 x (69 - x)
80 - x = 207 - 3x
2x= 207 - 80
x= 63.5
Hence, the cost price of the article = 63.5
