    If he increases his speed by 30%, then he takes 15 minutes less to cover the same distance. Find the time taken by him to cover the distance when traveling at his original speed.

    Solution

    Let the distance, original speed, and original time is taken be D km, S kmph, T hours, respectively.   Hence,   D = S × T D = (S × 1.3) × (T - 1/4) Thus, we can conclude, S × T = (S × 1.3) × (T - 1/4)   0.3T = 13/40   T = 13/12 (13/12 hours = 65 minutes   = 1 hour 05 minutes)
