Question

The line chart given below shows the demand and

production of six different companies A, B, C, D, E and F.   Which of the following statement(s) is/are correct? I. Difference between the average production and average demand is 150. II. Ratio of number of companies having more demand than production to the number of companies having more production than demand is 2 : 1 respectively.
A Both I and II Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Only I Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Neither I nor II Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Only II Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    From statement I: Average Production = (4500 + 3500 + 3200 + 3400 + 4100 + 6500)/6 = 4200 Average Demand = (4200 + 3800 + 2800 + 2700 + 3800 + 7000)/6 = 4050 Difference = 4200 – 4050 = 150 Statement I is correct.   From Statement II: Required ratio = (3800 + 7000) : (4500 + 3200 + 3400 + 4100) = 10800 : 15200 = 27 : 38   Statement II is false. Hence, only statement I is true.
