Let, the present age of A = x years So, the present age of B = (x + 8) years Then, (x - 4)/[(x + 8) - 4] = 1/2 ⇒ (x - 4)/(x + 4) = 1/2 ⇒ 2x - 8 = x + 4 ⇒ 2x - x = 8 + 4 ⇒ x = 12 So, B's present age = 12 + 8 = 20 years ∴ The present age of B (in years) is 20 years
