Question
Two inlet pipes M and N alone can fill a tank in 12
hours and 15 hours respectively and an outlet pipe P alone can empty the whole tank in 10 hours. First pipe M is opened for 6 hours, then pipe P is opened for 3 hours and rest of the tank is filled by pipe N. In what time will the tank be filled completely?Solution
Total capacity = 60 units (LCM of 12, 15 and 10) Efficiency of pipe M = 60/12 = 5 units/hr Efficiency of pipe N = 60/15 = 4 units/hr Efficiency of pipe P = 60/-10 = -6 units/hr Capacity of tank filled by pipe M in 6 hours = 5 × 6 = 30 units Capacity of tank emptied by pipe P in 3 hours = -6 × 3 = -18 units Capacity of tank left for pipe N = 60 – 30 – (-18) = 48 units Time taken by pipe N to fill the remaining tank = 48/4 = 12 hrs Total time taken = 6 + 3 + 12 = 21 hrs

Solve the following expression and calculate the approximate value.
14.96% of 120.03 - 107.99 + 88.93% of 199.87 = ?
- What approximate value will come in place of the question mark (?) in the following question? (Note: You are not expected to calculate the exact value.)
Find the approximate value of Question mark(?). There is no requirement to find the exact value.
? = 599.77 – 14.08 × 20.11 + (12.93)²
(124.99)² = ?
(29.97%) of 9840 + ? + (45.17% of 1240) = (31.99% of 11750)
10.10% of 999.99 + 14.14 × 21.21 - 250.25 = ?
(29.98% of 9840) + ? + (19.899% of 8490) = 7560
