Question
Income of Neel is 20% more than the expenditure of
Kabir. Income of Kabir is 33⅓% more than the expenditure of Neel. If savings of Kabir is Rs. 1,000 less than that of Neel and ratio between expenditure and savings of Neel is 7:2, respectively, then find the income of Kabir.Solution
Let the expenditure of Kabir be Rs. ‘5x’
So, income of Neel = 5x × (6/5) = Rs. ‘6x’
Let the expenditure of Neel be Rs. ‘3y’
So, income of Kabir = 3y × (4/3) = Rs. ‘4y’
So, savings of Neel = 3y × (2/7) = Rs. (6y/7)
ATQ;
6x – 3y = (6y/7)
Or, 6x = (27y/7)
Or, x = (9y/14)
Since, savings of Kabir is Rs. 1,000 less than that of Neel.
4y – 5x = (6y/7) – 1000
On putting x = (9y/14):
11y/14 = 12y/14 – 1000
Or, y/14 = 1000
So, y = 14000
So, income of Kabir = 4 × 14000 = Rs. 56,000
