Question
The income of ‘R’ is 25% more than that of ‘S’. R
saves 45% and S saves 30% of their respective incomes. If the difference in their expenses is Rs. 525, calculate the savings of R.Solution
ATQ,
Let the income of 'S' be Rs. '100n'
Income of 'R' = 1.25 × 100n = Rs. '125n'
Expenditure of 'R' = 0.55 × 125n = Rs. '68.75n'
Expenditure of 'S' = 0.7 × 100n = Rs. '70n'
So, 70n – 68.75n = 525
Or, 1.25n = 525
Or, n = 420
Savings of 'R' = 125n – 68.75n = 56.25n = 56.25 × 420 = Rs. 23,625
