Question
Income of 'P' is 60% more than that of 'Q'. 'P' and 'Q'
save 35% and 25% of their respective incomes. If the difference in their expenditures is Rs. 1,050, then what is the savings of 'P'?Solution
ATQ,
Let the income of 'Q' be Rs. '100n'
Income of 'P' = 1.6 × 100n = Rs. '160n'
Expenditure of 'P' = 0.65 × 160n = Rs. '104n'
Expenditure of 'Q' = 0.75 × 100n = Rs. '75n'
So, 104n - 75n = 1050
Or, 29n = 1050
Or, 'n' = 36.21
Savings of 'P' = 160n - 104n = 56n = 56 × 36.21 = Rs. 2,028
