Let the total number of votes be '100n'
Number of valid votes = 0.90 Ă— 100n = 90n
Number of valid votes received by 'Y' = 0.40 Ă— 90n = 36n
So, 36n = 21,600

Therefore, total number of votes = 600 Ă— 100 = 60,000
