    marks. B gets 36% of the full marks in the same exam and he also fails by 72 marks. What is the minimum percentage of marks a student should obtain to pass the exam?
    A 50 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 44 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 60 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 57 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E 46 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let maximum marks = 100x ∴ 30x + 90 = 36x + 72 => 6x = 18 => x = 3 ∴ Max marks = 100x = 300 ∴ Minimum percentage marks to be pass = {[(30×3) + 90]/300} × 100 = 60%
