Question
A, B and C invest in a business as follows, A invests
₹40,000 for 12 months, B invests ₹60,000 for 9 months, C invests ₹80,000 for 6 months. If the total profit at the end of the year is ₹45,000, what is B’s share?Solution
Capital × time: A: 40,000 × 12 = 4,80,000 B: 60,000 × 9 = 5,40,000 C: 80,000 × 6 = 4,80,000 Ratio A : B : C = 4,80,000 : 5,40,000 : 4,80,000 Divide by 60,000 → 8 : 9 : 8 Total parts = 8 + 9 + 8 = 25 Total profit = 45,000 1 part = 45,000 / 25 = 1,800 B’s share = 9 parts = 9 × 1,800 = ₹16,200
