Question
In a partnership, A and B invested Rs. (x + 1000) and Rs. (x β 600) for 4 months and 6 months respectively. Out of a total profit of Rs. 8400, A received Rs. 5600. Find the value of
x.
Solution
ATQ,
B's share = 8400 β 5600 = Rs. 2800
So, {(x + 1000) Γ 4}:{(x β 600) Γ 6} = 5600:2800
Or, 16(x + 1000) = 12(x β 600)
Or, 16x + 16000 = 12x β 7200
Or, 4x = 23200
Or, x = 5800
