Question
Pooja and Priya started a business investing Rs. 3,600
and Rs. 6,000 respectively. Priya left the business after a few months. At the end of the year, the profit was divided in the ratio 3:5. Calculate after how many months Priya withdrew.Solution
ATQ,
Let the time Priya stayed in the business be 'n' months.
Profit ratio = (3,600 × 12) : (6,000 × n) = 43,200 : 6,000n
So, 43,200 : 6,000n = 3 : 5
⇒ 5 × 43,200 = 3 × 6,000n
⇒ 2,16,000 = 18,000n
⇒ n = 12
