    Ratio of monthly savings to monthly income of Prashant is

    7:25. His four months savings is Rs. 26,600. Out of his monthly expenditure, he spends 20% on food, 25% of remaining on travelling, 40% of the now remaining income on entertainment, 75% of now remaining income on education and spends rest on others. Find his five months expenditure on others.

    Solution

    Let the monthly savings and monthly income of Prashant be Rs. 7b and Rs 25b respectively.
    ATQ:
    4 X 7b = 26,600
    Or, 28b = 26,600
    Or, 'b' = 950
    Monthly expenditure = 25b - 7b = 18b = 18 X 950 = Rs. 17,100
    Monthly expenditure on others = 17,100 X 0.8 X 0.75 X 0.6 X 0.25 = Rs. 1,539
    Therefore, required expenditure = 5 X 1,539 = Rs. 7,695
