    Question

The sum of two numbers is 60 whereas the sum of their

reciprocals is (20/9). Find the square of the product of the two numbers.
A 210 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 144 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 169 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 729 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

Let the two numbers be 'r' and 's'.

    So, r + s = 60

    And (1/r) + (1/s) = (20/9)

    Or, {(r + s)/(rs)} = (20/9)

    Or, rs = (9/20) × 60 = 27

    So, required square = 27² = 729
