A 128 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 160 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 256 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 288 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Let the quantity of milk and water in the initial mixture be тАШ5xтАЩ litres and тАШ3xтАЩ litres, respectively Quantity of milk in 64 litres of the mixture
    = 64 ├Ч (5/8) = 40 litres Quantity of water in 64 litres of the mixture
    = 64 тИТ 40 = 24 litres According to the question, (5x тИТ 40) = (3x тИТ 24 + 32) + 24 Or, 5x тИТ 3x = 40 + 32 Or, 2x = 72 Or, x = 36 Initial quantity of the mixture
    = 8x = 8 ├Ч 36 = 288 litres
