Question
15 litres of mixture A is blended with 35 litres of
mixture B and x litres of mixture C. Acid percentages in A, B, C are 20%, 32%, and 50% respectively. If the final mixture has 34% acid, find x.Solution
ATQ, Total acid = (20/100)×15 + (32/100)×35 + (50/100)×x = 3 + 11.2 + 0.5x = (14.2 + 0.5x) litres Total mixture = (15 + 35 + x) = (50 + x) litres ATQ, (50 + x)×0.34 = 14.2 + 0.5x ⇒ 17 + 0.34x = 14.2 + 0.5x ⇒ 17 − 14.2 = 0.5x − 0.34x ⇒ 2.8 = 0.16x So, x = 17.5 litres
