Question
In mixture ‘M’, the ratio of milk to water is 6:5. In
another mixture ‘N’, the ratio is 4:7. If 110 litres of ‘M’ and 77 litres of ‘N’ are combined, find the ratio of milk to water in the final mixture.Solution
ATQ,
Quantity of milk in ‘M’ = (6/11) × 110 = 60 litres
Quantity of water in ‘M’ = (5/11) × 110 = 50 litres
Quantity of milk in ‘N’ = (4/11) × 77 = 28 litres
Quantity of water in ‘N’ = (7/11) × 77 = 49 litres
Required ratio = (60 + 28) : (50 + 49) = 88:99 = 8:9
